Simulation Centre a hit with Bloor Homes
One of the UK’s leading house builders is using Coventry University’s state-of-the-art Simulation Centre to provide courses in customer care.
Leadership development specialists Acua Solutions are delivering the programme to approximately 100 of Bloor Homes’ site managers, with eight courses running between September and January.
Each two-day course, which includes psychometrics, simulation and ‘skills input’ sessions, is held in the Simulation Centre, led by a team of specialist actors and coaches, skilled in behavioural and personal effectiveness, who feedback following the day’s activities.
Customer care scenarios involve dealing with existing, new and potential customers; internal customers including sales and customer service and external stakeholders.
Each scenario has been developed jointly by Acua Solutions and Bloor Homes, to ensure they are specific to the company’s needs.
The courses have received 50% of funding from the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).
Jeannine Mortlock, Managing Director of Acua Solutions, which is a group company of Coventry University, said:
“These programmes have been specifically designed with Bloor Homes to ensure that we are tailoring our delivery to their needs and therefore their business objectives. “Delivery in our Simulation Centre allows us to develop real-time scenarios, using actors and ‘on-site’ locations, which provides an immersive learning environment.
“Site managers tend to be practical people and this interactive approach ensures people walk away living their learning.”
Jane Gadsby, HR Manager at Bloor Homes, added: “The Simulation Centre offers a unique environment which we simply wouldn’t be able to recreate elsewhere.
“The courses are engaging and are tailored for our needs and employees, while also offering training and feedback in scenarios which are completely relevant to their day-to-day work.”
