Anesco partners with SSE on ECO delivery

Anesco is to deliver energy efficiency upgrades to some of the country’s most vulnerable households, as part of a new partnership with energy supplier SSE. Under the agreement Anesco will manage upgrades available to households as part of the Government’s Energy Company Obligation (ECO) programme.

ECO has taken over from existing obligations, the Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT) and the Community Energy Saving Programme (CESP). It is a legal obligation placed on the ‘big six’ energy companies that requires them to promote improvements in domestic energy efficiency, including reducing emissions and heating costs.

The scheme is heavily linked to the Green Deal and is part of wider moves being made by the Government to reduce UK emissions.

The partnership will run until winter 2014 and is expected to see Anesco manage thousands of installations every year. Upgrades will include loft and cavity wall insulation, heating systems, window glazing and boiler replacement and repair.

Adrian Pike, Anesco CEO, commented: “We’re delighted to be working with SSE to deliver their ECO obligation and enable some of the poorest households in the country to reduce their energy costs. Schemes such as ECO ensure that households, many of which may be facing fuel poverty, have the opportunity to benefit from a more efficient home.”

Keith Armstrong, Head of ECO at SSE said: “As a leading ECO and Green Deal provider, Anesco was a natural choice for us and we look forward to working with them to deliver our ECO programme.”

Anesco is a national energy efficiency solutions company which works with businesses, local authorities, housing associations and homeowners to reduce their carbon emissions.
