North East's young entrepreneurs urged to enter design challenge
The region’s young entrepreneurial designers are being challenged to come up with a new product or service for the travel sector as part of a major competition.
The ‘3D Challenge’ urges young people between the ages of 14-25 to design a product or service that could be turned into a viable business via a three-stage process.
A free drop-in event takes place on November 13 between 1-4pm at the Discovery Museum in Newcastle will showcase some of the North East’s top designers and businesses and will give potential entrants more information on the competition.
Firms such as Tommee Tippee, RASKL, and Wonderstuff will appear at the event alongside Grant Ridley, who is currently the Young Ambassador for North East Entrepreneurship.
Emily Pearson, Marketing and Events Officer for Design Network North said: “We are really encouraging people from all backgrounds to come along to the event and see what it’s all about. You don’t even need to be a designer or a student to take part, you just need some good ideas and we will help with the rest!” The successful entries will be judged in January 2014 and will then go on to work with designers and businesses from across the North East to develop them into working prototypes and saleable products, with the final 12 designs being chosen to receive further funding and support as well as a host of other prizes. If you would like more information on the event or the challenge, then please visit: www.3dchallenge.co.uk or you can call Emily Pearson on 0191 499 8378.
