Rising energy prices until 2030: how to beat the costs
As the National Audit Office warns of above-inflation energy price rises for 17 years, home energy efficiency experts at Yorkshire-based specialists Greendale say consumers do not have to sit back and watch bills rise.
By taking action to reduce the amount of energy they use, people can keep prices down, without losing comfort, according to directors at the Halifax firm.
Increasing the energy efficiency of their home is one of the only real ways for people to reduce bills, argues Greendale.
Greendale Director Mark Pickles said: “One of the only ways people can bring prices down is to increase the energy efficiency of their home. The National Audit Office warning comes as no surprise, when you consider the rising demand and diminishing supply in the global fossil fuels market. Additionally, the increasing cost of extraction is a further upward force on the market.
“There are two easy and cost effective ways of cutting domestic energy bills: use less energy and increase insulation to the dwelling. “Increasing insulation and other energy efficiency measures can be done very easily and without high levels of disruption.”
Nick O’Connor, also a Director of Greendale, added: “These measures can be made in any home, and it is often the case that they can be done at the same time as other work on the property, minimising disruption and cost. “Improving a home’s energy performance helps to beat rising bills and combats fuel poverty, as well as improving comfort in the home.”
