Paralympic legend toasts success of Teesside’s chartered accountancy profession

Multi Paralympic gold medallist Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson DBE toasted the success of Teesside’s chartered accountancy profession on Friday evening (November 22nd) at the institute’s 64th annual dinner.

More than 214 guests, including guest speaker Baroness Grey-Thompson, celebrated another successful year of the respected profession at the Teesside Society of Chartered Accountants’ annual dinner.

Guests at the event, held at The Thistle Hotel in Middlesbrough, raised more than £5,500 for the former athlete’s charity, the British Wheelchair Racing Association, as part of the evening’s festivities.

Tindle’s Chartered Accountant partner and Teesside Society of Chartered Accountants’ chair, Angela Foster, said: “The 64th annual dinner was an incredible success and a great celebration of the chartered accountancy profession in the region.

“Thanks to our dinner sponsors - Aldermore Bank, Premium Credit, FairFX and Rowlands Restructuring and Insolvency - all 214 guests enjoyed a fantastic evening.

“We were honoured to be joined by one of Britain’s most successful and decorated athlete’s Baroness Grey-Thompson, and have the opportunity to support such a great cause. Thanks to our generous guests and match-funding by Barclays Business we managed to raise a staggering £5,500, which will support the association and enable it to continue to flourish.”

As Patron of the charity Baroness Grey-Thompson spoke to guests about how the funds raised will support the governing body for wheelchair racing in Great Britain and continue to actively promote participation, equality and governance for disabled people in sport both on the road and track.

Speaking about the annual dinner Baroness Grey-Thompson said: “I believe it is incredibly important to stop and take a moment to celebrate our own achievements, no matter what industry we work in or arena we compete in. I was honoured to support the Teesside Society of Chartered Accountants celebrate its achievements and all the professionals working within the profession in the region.

“I would also like to thank everyone for their kind donations on the evening; their generosity will ensure the British Wheelchair Racing Association supports the next generation of athletes coming through the ranks and increase participation in sport.”
