IronmongeryDirect strengthens team with Purchasing Manager
IronmongeryDirect, the UK’s largest online and mail order supplier of ironmongery products to the trade, has bolstered its team with the appointment of a senior purchasing manager.
With over 14 years’ experience in purchasing, Raja Samikannu joins the firm from Anders Electronics where he was employed for two and a half years as a purchasing manager. There he dealt with supplies in the Far East and managed display technology for the industrial sector. Prior to this, Raja worked in procurement for Hewlett Packard in Australia and Singapore.
Raja will be responsible for managing the purchasing and sourcing of all ironmongery and associated products in the range, ensuring consistent high standards are met. He will also play a lead role in driving the six-strong buying team forward through continuous innovation and best practice.
IronmongeryDirect boasts the UK’s largest range of ironmongery and associated products, with over 14,500 items in stock, having started out as a single ironmonger’s shop more than 40 years ago.
Commenting on his appointment, Raja Samikannu said: “I’m delighted to have joined IronmongeryDirect at what is an exciting time for the business. A key priority for me will be ensuring that links between purchasing and other functions are seamless and that we continue to deliver a high quality service for both the company and its customers. I’m looking forward to being part of the team and contributing towards our future success.”
Wayne Lysaght-Mason, managing director of IronmongeryDirect said: “The addition of Raja to our buying team will help enable us to maintain our position as market leaders. He brings a wealth of experience to our business and will contribute towards the development of the team and the continued enhancement of our products.”
