Creative apprenticeships first for Sunderland's youngsters
A series of apprenticeships in the creative industries are open to Sunderland’s 16-18 year-olds, following local firm Monumental Training’s latest contract win.
The firm is making available apprenticeships in venue operations, PR and marketing, event management, lighting, sound and rigging, and recording.
‘Creative Apprenticeships’ is the first industry designed and approved, government-funded, apprenticeship framework for the creative and cultural sector. It will allow young people to gain a Level 3 qualification.
Leader singer of The Futureheads, Barry Hyde, is working with Monumental and Sunderland music venue, The Bunker, to deliver the apprenticeships.
He said: “I am thrilled to be involved in the development of these creative apprenticeships, so i’ll be using my experience and knowledge of the sector to help provide the support system they need to have a successful career in the music industry.”
Monumental Training’s operations manager, Liam Whiting added, “This is a great opportunity for young people to start a career in our ever growing Creative Industries. It will give a boost to the local economy and provide a skilled workforce for the future of the music scene.”
Those interested in finding out more about the scheme should call Monumental Training on 0191 510 5530.
