Steely delivery for Port of Sunderland
The Port of Sunderland has welcomed a large delivery of steel from a Singaporean vessel.
The Lake Triview sailed into the Port at the weekend, and now unloading of thousands of tonnes will take place this week.
The 177 metres long vessel is the second largest vessel to visit the port in recent months, following the MV Ocean Bloom in October.
Port director Matthew Hunt, said: “Previously, Port of Sunderland’s cranage facility did not have the length of reach across this size of vessels’ beam to discharge the far side of a ships hold but our recently purchased Liebherr heavy lift crane has allowed us to discharge such vessels through its extended reach.
“As one of the largest vessels to enter the port in a number of months, the Lake Triview was an extraordinary sight on the Wear waters and it is a pleasure to be able to accommodate their discharge needs.”
