Work starts on Durham Tees Valley Airport
Work begins this week at Durham Tees Valley this week to dismantle a former hangar ready for the Airport’s development.
The hanger building, last used as a sports and tennis centre, stands on a 9.5 acre site recently acquired by the airport.
Says Airport strategic planning director Peter Nears “We acquired this sitebecause it fitted well with the overall landholdings of the airport and because believe it offers potential for a range of business opportunities, including aviation-related engineering, storage and distribution operations.
“The old steel frame on the site has been an eyesore for a long time. We have had the structure assessed and, as it is not viable for re-use, dismantling it is the best way forward.”
The work on dismantling and removing the steelwork is being undertaken by Stockton-based company T.J.Thomson and Son Ltd.
