Northallerton's ICE Renewables signs 5 year deal with New Zealand wind turbine firm

ICE Renewables signs a 5 year deal with NZ mid-wind turbine manufacture, Windflow in a potentially lucrative multi-million pound agreement.

Windflow Technology Ltd, the New Zealand manufacturers of medium sized wind turbines, have signed a five year deal with medium and megawatt wind turbine specialists ICE Renewables, based in North Yorkshire, to become a significant dealer in the UK.

The contract allows ICE Renewables ‘Approved Dealer’ status and allows them to provide approved build and operations and maintenance services for Windflow turbines.

Steve Squires, Windflow UK Sales Manager said: “We have been chasing ICE Renewables for a while to become a significant addition to our Dealer network.”

“We are delighted they are now in a position to add our turbines to their portfolio as ICE are hugely experienced and respected in the industry.

“They can offer a unique wrap round service for our customers, helping us offer a fully integrated service from planning to a full warranty maintenance cover for 5 or 10 years.

“It provides our customers with a quality continuation of service and peace of mind that they will be looked after. ICE Renewables services will complement the current high availability achieved through our other O&M capability.”

Julian Martin, ICE Renewables CEO adds, “We are excited at being able to add Windflow’s 250kW, 330kW and a true 500kW to our portfolio, one that hits the top banding for the Feed in tariff rate.

“The 500kW is the only turbine in the world that has received IEC 61400 Certification to Edition 3 of Class 1A. This means that customers know that a third party has verified that the Windflow500 will operate for more than 20 years in the strongest most turbulent wind regime in the IEC classification.

“The turbine has the highest production of any turbine under 50m on a class 1 site and has proven itself in high wind sites.”

At the beginning of the year, Windflow announced a $10.5 Million NZ Dollar investment signalling the confidence in the growth of the business in developing its sales world wide and in the UK.

Windflow has already installed nearly 100 500kW turbines worldwide and is building on its turbine installations in the UK throughout 2014.

Windflow offers turbine sales via a network of approved dealers, offering the flexibility to suit customer’s financial requirements.

Both companies will be exhibiting at the Energy Now Expo 2014, the renewable energy event for farmers and landowners, at the Telford International Centre, 12 -13 February 2014.

Julian Martin, who is also chair of Renewable UK’s Small and Medium Wind Strategy Group, will be speaking as an expert on the Wind Panel on Day 1 about the importance of a good operations and maintenance regime.
