Southern expansion plans for roofing firm

As Britain’s construction sector has hits its strongest level of output and employment since August 2007, Russell Roof Tiles is announcing it is investing in further expansion.

According to Market/CIPS UK Construction Purchasing Managers survey growth in house-building is now the fastest in 10 years. Britain is still falling far short of the estimated 250,000 new homes a year needed to keep up with population growth.

Russell Roof Tiles - the UK’s leading independent manufacturer of roof tiles and fittings is expanding its footprint and strengthening its presence in the South – with a new dedicated Regional Sales Manager - a new role, covering the Northern Home Counties, South East and Southern Counties.

Last summer Russell Roof Tiles invested £250,000 in its Lockerbie factory in Lochmaben, one of three manufacturing sites in the UK. This followed £2 million investment to install a new line at its main Burton plant the previous year.

As part of its strategic growth the company has appointed a new Regional Sales Manager with 30 years building, construction and roofing sector experience to launch a new Southern Division.

Paul McLoughlin started his career at John Laing Construction - which eventually become Laing O’Rourke, then spent nine years at Russell Roof Tiles whilst under previous ownership. For the past eight years he has been with a leading roofing business and contractor in a number of sales and marketing roles.

Paul brings with him extensive sector expertise across the roofing industry. Speaking about his new role, Paul said: “I am delighted to have re-joined Russell Roof Tiles at such an exciting time for the expanding business. I’m looking forward to developing the customer base across the southern region for which Russell Roof Tiles has an extensive range of products ideally suitable for all market sectors.”

Paul will be working alongside the business’s established sales team and closely with Business Development Manager Martin Taylor, who has 40 years experience in the building industry and 23 years at Russell Roof Tiles.

Martin commented: “It was recently reported that across London alone, 2,000 housing developments are under construction or have planning consent, so across the south and south east generally there is a massive building programme ongoing. With our added resources we are now in a better positive to maximise our presence in the region.”

Russell Roof Tiles already has a significant number of clients in the region including leading housing builders Bovis and Barratt Homes. It has just also nearly completed a £750,000 contract to supply roofing solutions for Center Parcs for all of its 625 forest lodges at Center Parcs Woburn Forest (Bedfordshire) due to open in the spring.

Andrew Hayward Managing Director at Russell Roof Tiles added “We’re pleased to welcome Paul back to the Russell Roof Tiles team as he has a great wealth of sales experience. Paul and Martin will work well with each other and will be a real force to be reckoned with!

“Paul’s appointment is further evidence of our commitment to ongoing expansion. We’re growing our portfolio of products and team to meet the expanding customer based right across the UK.”
