Sheffield's Numill jets off to the Far East to develop trade links

The boss of one of the UK’s leading tool reclamation companies is heading to the Far East as part of a trade delegation to grow existing business and search out new opportunities.

Anne Wilson, MD of Numill, Sheffield, will stop off at the Singapore Air Show on February 12 as part of the South Yorkshire International Trade Forum (SYITF) before heading on to Malaysia to develop existing links.

It is part of Anne’s strategic plan to develop business in the rail, aerospace, automotive, oil, gas and nuclear sectors. Earlier trade missions have lead to key connections and trial orders with front line companies working on major infrastructure projects.

The trade delegation has just four days in Singapore to assess the potential, make connections and hopefully seize opportunities.

For Anne it is also the chance to develop existing relationships in Malaysia where Numill has previously worked on a trial basis.

“Exporting to some of these markets is a slow process. It is not just about the products or our service but the personal relationship we can establish. They need to feel they can trust you.’’

“We have done a small amount of work for some front line clients out there but we want to consolidate that, convince them of the benefits of tool reclamation and develop the spread of work we do for them,” she added. “In addition I am very excited because I have lined up some appointments with other major players out there.’’

“Tooling budgets on major projects are massive and tool reclamation can deliver 70% savings as well as return 100 per cent capability back to the tool,” she explained.

“As a second and third tier supplier it is all about being competitive and proving we can deliver on time and within budget. We need to be a reliable link in the chain.

“So far the work we have done has been well received in the Far East, I hope it will lead to more from existing clients and new ones.”
