Building starts on 388 new homes in Leeds

Work starts on the first of 388 homes next week in the Little London, Beeston Hill and Holbeck housing regeneration project.

Sc4l will be developing a mix of one and two bedroom properties the site on Folly Lane in Holbeck.

The Housing Regeneration Project is part of a wider Council House Growth Programme that will see the council building new homes for the first time in decades, and increase council housing stock by more than 1000 new homes.

Councillor Peter Gruen, Leeds City Council executive board member with responsibility for neighbourhoods, planning and support services, said: “It is a very exciting year for council housing in Leeds this year, as we will see the beginning of the build of almost 1000 new homes in the city – the largest growth of council houses in Leeds for a number of decades.

“The housing regeneration project, alongside the council house growth project which the council is leading on will bring many, much needed council houses to the city.

“I’m determined to see us provide the affordable housing in Leeds which means people on modest incomes have access to high quality, reasonably priced housing.”

Jon Hinchliffe, sc4L General Manager, said: “We’re looking forward to delivering great new homes for people, and working with the council to make sure that we give work opportunities to local people too.
