The ultimate ‘out-of-office’ challenge for North East firms

A team of legal experts from one of Newcastle’s leading law firms is aiming to walk away with another win under its belt next month as part of an annual fundraising challenge.

Irwin Mitchell Solicitors has signed up to compete in North East charity Calvert Trust’s ‘Kielder Quest’, a corporate fundraising initiative which last year generated £6,000 to support services for disabled people and their families.

The challenge, which involves physical and mental water and land based challenges including high ropes, archery, climbing and laser clay shooting, is specifically for businesses from across the region and will see one team win the coveted ‘Kielder Quest Trophy’.

Katie Thackray, Associate, Court of Protection, at Irwin Mitchell Solicitors says their team are up for the challenge and will be aiming to beat the competition.

“Our team is ready and raring to go. We have no doubt as to just how testing and competitive it will be but it is also an excellent team building exercise, a great way of raising funds for a really worthwhile cause and, we have been assured, a lot of fun.

“Irwin Mitchell has been involved with and supported Calvert Trust Kielder for a number of years now as we recognise the value of such a facility and what a huge positive difference it can make to people’s lives.”

This year’s teams include Seymour Civil Engineering, UBS Wealth Management, Northumbrian Water, TLW Solicitors, Ramarketing and also last year’s winners Lumsden & Carroll, part of the Esh Group, who will be returning to defend their title.

There are a few team places left for next month’s challenge and the Trust’s CEO Peter Cockerill is asking businesses to sign up as soon as they can.

He said:“This is always a great event - highly competitive as you can imagine, but also very rewarding for all those involved.

“Knowing what a good day it is, and just how competitive the north east business community is, I’m sure the remaining team spaces won’t be around long so I’d say get in quick if you think you’ve got what it takes to win!

“The support of regional business is absolutely invaluable to us and the people we help here at Calvert Trust Kielder. The Kielder Quest is just one of our fundraising activities but a perfect example of businesses and charity working together. It’s going to be a fantastic day.”

The Kielder Quest takes place on Friday 7th March 2014 at Calvert Trust Kielder. For further information or to sign up visit www.calvert-trust.org.uk/kielder or call Hazel Ditchburn on 01434 250232.
