Niven Architects create BIM division to target growing market
County Durham-based Niven Architects have launched a building information modelling division to target construction consultants, contractors and developers, among others.
The division, BIM Strategy Ltd, will be led by architects Simon Crowe and Johnathan Munkley.
It has been established with the help of Teesside University’s Knowledge Transfer Programme, and follows significant investment by Niven in hardware, software and training.
Johnathan said: “It has taken us a significant period of time and investment to get to this point and we have learnt an enormous amount about what does and does not work.
“BIM is the future; it’s the way forward and the Government is demanding compliancy by 2016 in all public sector projects. We can help the industry take the leap of faith to the world of BIM.”
Simon added: “BIM takes the guesswork out of design and construction. It is accurate, consistent and enables professionals to make informed decisions, calculate exact quantities and future running costs. It reduces risk and waste and promotes sustainable construction.”
