Well loved TV show sees a flurry of bookings for MedPlaya
Popular British sit-com Benidorm, currently in its sixth series on ITV, has encouraged a surge in sales for Spanish hotel chain MedPlaya.
The show, which is a tongue-in-cheek take on the working class stereotype of the popular Spanish resort, depicts the contrasting lives of regular and first-time holiday-goers in the all-inclusive Solana hotel. Characters like transvestite barman Les, and straight-talking, chain-smoking Madge have become much loved with British viewers.
MedPlaya.com say they have seen an upsurge in bookings to the resort since series’ six and seven of the show were commissioned in April last year.
Jan Guile, Marketing and Commercial Manager at MedPlaya says: “ Benidorm has been a favourite with UK holiday makers since the nineteen seventies. It’s a fantastic resort, full of fun and with a unique charm and identity and offers fantastic value for money.
“The show, whilst obviously exaggerated for comedy value, does succeed in capturing the character of the place and the mix of personalities we find on holiday here. We do see a variety of people through the door at MedPlaya, from families to single travellers and often groups of friends , but they all have something in common, they’re all seeking of fun in the sun and value for money, and Benidorm certainly delivers.
“A lot of our guests like the familiarity that resorts like Benidorm can provide and many have been returning for their holidays for up to twenty years, which is real testament to what our hotels and our resorts have to offer.”
MedPlaya.com operates a range of hotels rated up to four stars across Spanish destinations including Benidom, Costa Brava, Salou, and Costa del Sol. The hotel group encourage direct bookings to guarantee the best prices, and offers rooms in its hotels starting from just £16 per night.
The hotel group are currently offering significant savings against winter and summer sun holidays. For more information visit www.medplaya.com
