Wallsend engineers set to top £1 million turnover this year
Wallsend-based manufacturers Rotational Engineering say turnover is set to reach £1 million by the end of 2014.
The firm, which specialises in mould tool making and fine limit sheet metal work, employs eight people.
Support from MAS has helped Rotational Engineering to modernise its operations and take a more strategic approach to securing new work.
It is already reaping dividends, with new contracts secured across general fabrication, oil and gas and in providing rotational tools for the plastics sector.
Director Pat Davidson explained: “We were enduring a bit of a flat period, but decided to use the time to upskill our staff and introduce new processes that would make us more competitive.
“The management team has also used the opportunity to strategically target new opportunities and I’m pleased to say this has worked with turnover set to rise to £600k and then to £1 million by the end of 2014.
“Our expertise in design and fabrication is really making a difference. Only last year we produced Sir Ranulph Fiennes’ special sleigh for his Antarctica expedition and, topically, we are now looking at supporting the development of a new flood barrier.”
She continued: “We have also designed and manufactured the Flight Caddy, which provides a safe and convenient way of transferring your golf clubs on airplanes. There’s been a lot of interest and now we need to capitalise on it.”
Rotational Engineering, which employs 8 people at its Cedar Grove Factory, is now looking to invest in a new laser cutter to increase its capacity and speed of turnaround.
