Around 50 jobs created at Deloitte’s Newcastle offices
Around 50 jobs will be created in Newcastle as Deloitte’s regional offices have secured a contract to establsh a national Centre for Excellence.
The Centre will deliver some of the firm’s Distinctive Audit process and has the potential to create a further 50 jobs over the next two years.
Paul Feechan, senior partner of Deloitte in Newcastle, said: “This is fantastic news for Newcastle and the North East practice. We expect it to lead to the creation of up to 100 new positions over the next couple of years, with real scope for further expansion in the future.
“This will allow us to retain work in the UK that could otherwise have moved offshore. It will also provide excellent opportunities for our team to establish and deliver a high quality Centre of Excellence.”
The centre has already employed 20 people and is currently recruiting to fill further posts. Many of the roles do not require an accounting qualification, although there are roles for both part and fully qualified accountants.
Madeleine Hope, head of the Centre of Excellence, added: “The calibre of candidates has been amazing, reinforcing my view that the North East region is bursting with talent. It’s an exciting time and the people we are recruiting now have a chance to develop and shape the operation.”
