Exciting first year for events company
Sunderland Live, the company responsible for some of the biggest and best loved events in the North East’s calendar celebrates its first birthday on April 1 2014.
The company’s first year has seen the team deliver a jam packed events calendar offering residents and visitors to the city everything from classic favourites such as the Sunderland International Airshow to new and vibrant festivals such as the Vintage and Retro Festival in June 2013.
Chris Alexander, Chief Operating Officer of Sunderland Live said: “We have had a fantastic first year and have worked hard to ensure that both the company and our events calendar are able to grow further in 2014.’
After already increasing the staffing structure earlier in the year, the company is currently recruiting two new members of full time staff along with a new group of event crew that will assist in delivering an even bigger 2014 events programme.
This year’s calendar will feature Sunderland Live flagship events such as the Wearmouth Bridge Zipwire challenge sitting alongside exciting new partnership events such as the Color Run, Sunderland Food Festival, Comic Con, Triathlon Pink and Miles for Men.
Zoe Channing, head of Events Development, explained: “This first year has focused on enhancing the events which really do the city proud as well as bringing in new events which we hope will not only please residents but also attract people from outside of Sunderland to enjoy the events and support local businesses.”
