Chadwick Lawrence and Council’s Business Support programme partner for Wakefield Business Week

Wakefield Council’s Business Support Programme will support the city’s business week for the second year running as a key partner alongside others including principal partner Chadwick Lawrence.

Monday June 2 sees the start of the second Wakefield Business Week with the established and successful Wakefield Business Conference at the centrepiece on Wednesday 4 June at Cedar Court Hotel, Wakefield.

The Business Support Programme is a partnership between Wakefield Council, RCP21, South Elmsall Town Council, South Kirkby and Moorthorpe Town Councils and secured funding from the European Union support Wakefield’s businesses.

The Wakefield Enterprise Partnership helps to promote the programme through public and private sector partners and encourages collaborative working and sharing best practice.

The Wakefield Business Support Programme is also hosting the opening Leadership Breakfast and First Friday closing event with councillor Peter Box, leader of Wakefield Council.

Councillor Box said: “I am pleased so that many big businesses are already on board for this year’s Wakefield Business Week. It is a real opportunity to bring people together to share ideas and bring investment and jobs to the district.

“By working together we will support local businesses to grow and provide employment and training opportunities.”

Martyn Dawes, Coffee Nation/Costa Express giant and John Bird, founder of The Big Issue will take to the main stage to share their journey to business success.

“There will be more than 30 seminars hosted by experts across the district including a ‘State of the District’ panel chaired by Helen Oldham, Managing Director of Johnston Press.

The week will also incorporate meet the leader events, presenting a rare opportunity to get behind the scenes of the most prominent organisations in the district; Coca Cola, The National Coal Mining Museum and The Ridings shopping centre to name just a few.
