Taylor Wimpey sees strength in housing market across the regions
Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey says the housing market has continued to improve across all regions, driven by better access to affordable mortgages.
The national company, which operates North East offices in Sunderland and Stockton, said the spring selling season has been strong and now expects sales rates for the year to outstrip 2013.
Orders increased by 13% to 8,139 homes during the first quarter and the company’s total order book value increased 33% to roughly £1.6 billion.
Land prices, whilst rising, were still affording the firm margins above historic norms. At the end of March, the short-term landback stood at roughly 73,000 plots.
The firm said Tony Reading MBE will stand down from the board as a non executive director.
