Balfour Beatty recognised for Morpeth flood alleviation works
Construction firm Balfour Beatty for its ‘exceptionally’ considerate approach to building the Morpeth Flood Alleviation Scheme.
The project won a gold award from the Considerate Constructors Scheme, a national body which monitors construction firms to encourage best practice.
Balfour were awarded the project following severe flooding on the River Wansbeck in 2008.
Edward Hardy, chief executive of the Considerate Constructors Scheme, said: “Balfour Beatty has once again demonstrated that they are operating to the highest standards of considerate construction.
“Across their spectrum of registered sites they have been one of the highest performers during 2013 culminating in 10 bronze, 22 silver and 4 Gold Awards (two of which were Most Considerate Site Runners Up) at the Scheme’s 2014 National site Awards.
“This impressive total of 36 awards confirms that Balfour Beatty is one of the top performing companies registering with the Scheme and I would like to thank them for their outstanding contributions in helping to improve the image of construction.”
Dr Paul Toyne, director of Sustainability for Balfour Beatty’s UK construction business, added: “I am delighted that we have once again been recognised as a leading constructor when it comes to our consideration of communities in the places where we work.
“We are dedicated to developing, implementing and maintaining the highest standards of considerate construction on our projects.”
