Vision Express open Bishop Auckland store with emphasis on fundraising

National optician chain Vision Express has opened its latest store in Bishop Auckland.

The Tindale Crescent Retail Park store has created two new jobs in the town, and aims to raise £1,000 to help the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust.

Samantha Brown and Elizabeth Alderson have been appointed retail associates, while store manager Michelle Debnath has relocated from Leeds.

A ribbon-cutting by a Cornsay family who are campaigners for a rare form of eye cancer.

Four year old Skye Cleverdon, brother Jack and parents Mike and Jo, joined store staff to declare the new Vision Express store officially open.

Skye was diagnosed with an eye cancer called unilateral retinoblastoma just before her second birthday and following treatment had her left eye removed.

Store manager Michelle Debnath said: “Our thanks go to Skye and her family for marking this special occasion with us. We look forward to welcoming customers to our new home which now includes sophisticated eye health screening equipment and a wide selection of frames.”
