AkzoNobel’s Gateshead facility leads consortium to £500k TSB funding
AkzoNobel are leading a consortium of business that will collaborate on a project to develop high-performance marine coatings having secured £0.5 million funding from the Government’s Technology Strategy Board.
The Gateshead-based firm will coordinate the project between its Felling plant, the University of Liverpool, Revolymer plc and Newcastle University.
Newcastle University will contribute its expertise in the field of marine fouling, including specialist assay testing facilities.
David Williams, RD&I director of AkzoNobel Marine & Protective Coatings, said: “This project provides us with the opportunity to use our collective expertise to help us develop innovative and sustainable fouling control technology delivering reduced fuel costs and emissions over even longer service periods.”
