Glanbia Performance Nutrition win at Exporter Awards
Teesside based manufacturer, Glanbia Performance Nutrition has won the prestigious Mid/Large Company Exporter of the Year 2014, at the North East Exporter of the Year Awards.
The company which produces sport nutrition and functional food bars for dozens of the biggest brands across Europe, celebrated an outstanding 18 growth by the business, receiving the accolade at the gala awards dinner, at Ramside Hall on 15th May, and were presented by Lord Livingston, Trade Minister.
The annual awards which are sponsored by NCJ Media, NECC, UKti and HSBC recognised the achievements of leading businesses across the region, with companies from Teesside nominated in a number of categories. Glanbia Performance Nutrition beat off stiff competition to lift the awards, and the win comes only weeks after recognition at the regional North East Business Awards where they have been finalists for the last 2 years, including a nomination for their Innovation and investment in R&D, which has contributed significantly to export growth.
Lord Livingston was the keynote speaker at the event and commented on the regions contribution to the Plan for Growth targets and his pleasure to be celebrating with some amazing exporters, their success at the North East awards.
Jim Parr, Operations Director from Glanbia Performance Nutrition accepted the award from Lord Livingston and was delighted to see the business recognised commenting; ‘The whole team at Glanbia have worked tremendously hard to create a facility capable of handling the huge increase in workload which has been necessary to meet the demands of our export growth. This award recognises that successful exporting requires the combined efforts of the entire workforce, and we are very pleased to be among the best of the regions employers.’
Donald McClymont, General Manager of Glanbia Performance Nutrition commented: ‘Our focus on growth is paying dividends across the business, and we have combined our exceptional quality products with our clear advantage in innovation to build strong relationships with many of the leading retailers and brands across Europe. We have already made great strides into the export market, and have a very positive outlook for the future of export production from our site in Middlesbrough.’
