Doncaster Chambers supports over 2000 new start-ups

Doncaster Chamber along with its New Enterprise Allowance partners has reportedly helped over 2000 people in South Yorkshire have signed off benefits and are independently trading.

The whole of the South Yorkshire district, led by the Doncaster Chamber, are “consistently exceeding the number of business start-ups expected.”

The New Enterprise Allowance (NEA) is a Government initiative aimed at helping benefit claimants to start their own business through financial help and the provision of tailored one to one support from experienced business mentors.

The NEA mentoring service is delivered across the 380 Local Authorities in the UK and is funded via a grant from DWP.

Doncaster Chamber is the nominated lead partner for the NEA mentoring service for the South Yorkshire area, working with SENTA and Barnsley/Rotherham Chamber of Commerce.

The latest Government figures show that South Yorkshire, led by the Doncaster Chamber team, is ranked 4th out of 36 districts for both its mentoring service and the number of business start-ups created and trading.
