Talented designers add to White October’s creative clout
Two appointments have added to the creative abilities of Oxford digital agency White October a designers Sarah Plant and Garry Richardson join this award-winning firm. Both bring years of experience in interaction design and visual communications.
White October head of design Jo Lankester says:
“We look for talented designers who are also committed team players, which Garry and Sarah certainly are. They also bring that extra passion to their field which, as any designer will tell you, turns good design into great design.”
Sarah Plant Originally from a background in graphic design and publishing Sarah moved to web design a few years ago. In the last two years she has worked on many high profile projects such as the online branding and site design for CLIC Sargent and BIMA D-Day.
Since graduating in Visual Communications from Birmingham City University, Sarah has lectured on design and publishing. A natural collaborator, she is a co-founder of Ferment, a quarterly zine combining original writing with illustration. She is also known for her involvement in digital events such as Oxford Geek Nights, and is on the Board of Digital Oxford with responsibility for branding.
Sarah says: “Sitting in project teams allows everyone to contribute ideas and work with each other and our clients. Events in the digital sector are also highly valued here and I feel I can add a lot to an already well developed programme.”
Garry Richardson is an experienced interaction designer specialising in user-centric and visual design. After two years at anti-virus software provider Sophos, he spent seven years at digital music service We7 which became BlinkBox. When Tesco acquired We7 and rebranded it, he moved to London to design the BlinkBox site and help build up the UX team.
Garry’s talent for building usability into design stems from his early experience working with people with disabilities. Here he realised how much technology, when it is well designed, can connect people to a world of possibilities.
When he looked for a change Garry was keen to return to an agency: “White October is a stimulating team to work with. The firm is growing rapidly. The direction it is taking enables me to apply my creative skills to a variety of different projects in a fast-paced, changing environment.”
