Liverpool gaming-tech school praised for bridging the gap between education and industry
The Studio Liverpool, acclaimed for its gaming technology and digital futures applications, has attracted the likes of mentors and media giants Sony to its latest summer showcase.
The school, based in Greenland Street at the heart of the city’s Baltic Triangle creative sector , seeks to educate young people for success in a digital world and, in particular, for employment, entrepreneurship, a new business venture or further study in the digital media sector.
Held as an exhibition of one academic year’s work, students have been creating TV games with the help of mentors over the last nine months then launching them on Android platforms to resounding success.
Justin Davies from Sony said: “It was a highly impressive display from the students.
“Aside from the huge viral online power of the games that students have achieved, The Studio Liverpool is enabling a whole new generation of entrepreneurs as a result of the courses.”
The Studio’s Principal, Shaun McInerney, said: “We are creating a talented pool of future employees for the sector through our Studio digital projects and we are creating digital leaders of the future through our community leadership projects with FACT, Girl Geeks, St James’ in the City and local primary schools and elders groups.
“We are really pleased that our students are helping us become a thriving hub for digital technology by sharing their skills. We are proud that our students are swiftly becoming the finest ambassadors of our school”.
