Epic Games acquires Sunderland games development studio
Pitbull Studio, which is based at Rainton Bridge South Business Park in Sunderland, has been acquired by US games development company Epic Games and will henceforth be known as Epic Games UK.
Pitbull, which was founded in 2009 and also has offices in Guildford and Leamington Spa, has worked closely with the Gears of War developer for some time.
Epic Games’ lead programmer James Golding recently moved from the company’s headquarters in North Carolina, to Guildford, where he will lead an expansion of that office.
Robert Troughton, Pitbull’s general manager said: “Becoming Epic Games U.K. was the next logical step in our relationship with Epic. We’re looking forward to expanding our amazing team here in the U.K.”
Mike Gamble, Epic’s European territory manager said “Setting up a bespoke Epic presence here and fully utilizing the Pitbull team as part of that enables us to support Unreal Engine 4 developers across Europe on an entirely new level.”
