Shipley’s Video Agency and Mr Yorkshire team up to put a spotlight on the textile industry

Shipley-based firm The Video Agency has teamed up with Mr Yorkshire Ltd to highlight the continuing strength of Yorkshire’s textiles industry.

The Video Agency’s unique software provides Mr Yorkshire’s TV Channel and shines the spotlight on the new grey version of the Yorkshire Stripe Cloth as it is woven in Huddersfield and tailored by Suit the City, based in Leeds.

Chairman of Mr Yorkshire Ltd, Keith Madeley, said: “the cloth will be promoted throughout the UK and internationally by working with Suit the City of Leeds to ensure anyone wishing to support this sector can demonstrate their loyalty to both County and Cloth by purchasing the material.

“If 1% of Yorkshire people purchased a suit length that would ensure the looms of Yorkshire mills would be working at full capacity. It is intended to re-produce the original blue and black versions if demand is there.”

Gordon Inglis of Suit the City Leeds says “The Yorkshire Suit cloth is a fantastic top-quality fabric which showcases the best of Yorkshire textiles production.

“We are delighted to work with Keith and Mr Yorkshire Ltd and to offer our clients a whole range of garments in the exclusive Yorkshire striped cloth.”

Both the Archbishop of York and former Minister for Yorkshire, Rosie Winterton MP, have the original versions.

Ruth Crawshaw-Sykes, director of J H Clissold, the manufacturer in Bradford says: “Joseph H. Clissold is very proud to be involved in the design and manufacture of the 3rd edition Yorkshire suiting cloth.

“With more and more consumers wanting to know the provenance of the goods they buy, it is only right that we fanfare the cloths we make here in Yorkshire.

“Keith is doing a fabulous job promoting Yorkshire business and the Yorkshire cloth at every corner he turns.”

The cloth is finished by W T Johnsons of Huddersfield and during this process the fabric will have Aquarret applied. This finish forms a high performance showerproof and stain resistance around the fibres without affecting the luxury soft feel of the cloth. J H Clissold hold the trademark for ‘Aquarret.’
