Local engineer takes on fitness challenges to raise money for Macmillan
Ben Tidmarsh, Senior Engineer for Barratt Homes Yorkshire West from Leeds, has undertaken a series of gruelling challenges to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity which supported Ben and his family when his son was diagnosed with leukaemia.
Ben has so far completed ‘Yorkshire Warrior’, a ten-mile obstacle race strewn with obstacles ranging from rivers to mud embankments, the Leeds Half Marathon, which he completed in less than two hours, and this year’s Manchester Marathon. Despite a hip injury, Ben has completed the races and raised over £300 for the notable cause so far.
Later in the year Ben will be continuing his fitness challenges with a trek along Hadrian’s Wall dressed as a centurion and completing the three peaks challenge. To donate visit https://www.justgiving.com/Ben-Tidmarsh3/.
Ben commented: “I am very grateful for all the support I have received from my colleagues at Barratt Homes, as well as my friends and family. Without their encouragement there is no way I could have completed these challenges. I am very much looking forward to the next two challenges, although I’m sure someone will mistake me for Russell Crowe as I march across Hadrian’s Wall!”
He added: “Macmillan were such a tremendous support when we discovered my son had leukaemia. Raising much needed funds will go in some part to repaying them for all the kindness they showed our family during a particularly difficult time in our lives.”
