Aspers supports rowers on record breaking journey
Aspers Casino Newcastle is celebrating after a team of female rowers it sponsors has hit the record books.
On 7 August 2014, Emily Blagden (UK), Ingrid Kvale (USA), Aoife Ni Mhaoileoin (Ireland) and Amanda Challans (UK), became the first all woman team to successfully row across the Pacific Ocean.
Sailing under the name Team Boatylicious, Emily, Ingrid, Aoife and Amanda are officially the first all-female four ever to complete the 2,400-mile crossing from California to Hawaii.
Aspers Casino Newcastle and the Aspers Group sponsored Team Boatyliciious during the first ever Great Pacific Race, which saw teams from across the world battle the elements, and each other, to sail across the Pacific Ocean.
Darren Hedley, campaigns manager at Aspers Casino Newcastle said: “We’re delighted to have supported Emily, Ingrid, Aoife and Amanda on their world record journey. It’s an unbelievable achievement and everyone at Aspers has been rooting for them throughout the 50-day journey.
“They’ve raised a huge amount of money for charity and Aspers is proud to have helped them realise their dream of completing this iconic race.”
