Darlington fashion entrepreneurs compete for Liberty of London contract
Two Darlington entrepreneurs will compete against hundreds of business owners for the chance to sell their products at one of London’s most famous department stores.
Karen Riley and Donna Feeney ‘upcycle’ rubbish to create home accessories, bags and scented candles.
The pair is set to go up against hundreds of other entrepreneurs at the British Design Open Call in London this weekend, for the chance to have their products stocked at Liberty of London.
Karen and Donna, who have been close friends for 13 years, set up the business in 2013 after spotting a gap in the market.
The pair work alongside a mixologist to create natural scents for their non-toxic candle selection.
Ms Riley told the Darlington and Stockton Times: “It is a bit like Dragons’ Den versus X-Factor. We have a three-minute pitch to try and convince the panel that they should stock us.
“We are both really excited and we can’t wait to get down there.”
