Philip Waters, RTA solicitor, Your Legal Friend comments on LV= findings
LV= has today released new research which reveals that two million drivers don’t wear a seatbelt when driving. The report also finds that 9% of motorists don’t wear a seatbelt when they are a front passenger, and 47% are unaware they can be fined for not wearing one.
Philip Waters, RTA solicitor at a leading personal injury solicitors, Your Legal Friend, comments on the worrying findings.
“It is alarming to hear today, that UK road users are behaving recklessly by failing to wear seatbelts. Our recent Road Report found that nearly half (49%) of road users have been involved in a traffic accident. Worryingly, 45% of these accidents resulted in an injury. National data shows that motorists are twice as likely to be injured in an accident if they do not wear a seatbelt. Clipping a belt on takes seconds but can save a life and it is paramount that motorists take all possible steps to ensure their own and their passengers’ safety as they take to the roads.”
