Thousands of reasons to cheer!
Northumberland Wildlife Trust has thousands of reasons to be very happy … 175,000 reasons in fact! For, the wildlife charity has received a staggering £175,000 from players of People’s Postcode Lottery which supports a number of good causes across Britain and globally.
The latest cash boost takes Northumberland Wildlife Trust’s total received from players of the charity lottery to a whopping £669,940.
The money received will boost the Trust’s conservation work, both large and small - from repairing vandalized bird feeding stations on a number of reserves, installing special newt fencing to prevent the protected great crested newt population going ‘walkabout’ on its Hauxley nature reserve and taking school groups into the wilds of Northumberland to appointing Lauren Ogilvie, its first successful apprentice.
Commenting on the £175,000, Mike Pratt, Northumberland Wildlife Trust Chief Executive said: “What a great figure and such positive news at what is still a very difficult time for charity funding; support from the players cannot be underestimated and we are so very thankful to everyone who plays.
“Wildlife can’t stand up for itself which is why we must do it - if we didn’t do it, who will? The invaluable support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery means that we can get on and do what we do best - conserving wildlife for future generations to enjoy.”
