North East construction firm completes £1.4 million of contracts
North East construction firm Gus Robinson Developments has completed a series of region wide contracts, collectively totalling £1.4 million.
The Hartlepool-based firm secured contracts to refurbish 14 school buildings over the summer holidays in Middlesbrough, Stockton, Yarm and Hartlepool.
The contracts ranged from boiler replacements and toilet block refurbishments to replacing roofs and windows.
The most significant contract was the refurbishment of five science laboratories at Conyers School in Yarm. The classrooms have been designed to the highest specifications with smart design and colour scheme and have proved a hit with pupils at the 1325 pupil school.
The contract for the science laboratories was awarded by consultants Faithful and Gould.
In addition to the work at Conyers School, Gus Robinson Developments also replaced roofs at West View School in Hartlepool and Holmwood School in Middlesbrough, as well as new windows at Throston School in Hartlepool.
It has also recently completed the construction of brand new accommodation halls for students at Cleveland College of Art and Design in Hartlepool.
Gus Robinson Developments has its own firm commitment to education and training and received national recognition for its apprenticeship scheme in the prestigious Business in The Community Awards.
Chairman and Chief Executive of Gus Robinson Developments, Dan Robinson, said: “As a business, we are expanding our portfolio of work with public sector clients be that community buildings libraries or schools.
“It is fantastic that we were able to secure and complete so many school refurbishments over the summer holidays.
“It’s important that pupils come back to a welcoming environment which encourage them to learn and the new science labs at Conyers School are certainly inspiring.”
Head teacher at Conyers School, Louise Spellman, said: “Our students, staff and governors are very pleased with our new modern science labs, they were completed on time and have already made a huge difference to learning”
