Cramlington transport company launches profit share scheme for workers

A family-owned transport company has launched a profit share scheme for its workers.

Bosses at Moody Logistics, which employs 30 staff at Cramlington in Northumberland, say they want to reward employees as the company grows.

In 1997 Moody Logistics was the first transport and logistics firm in the region to be awarded an Investor in People award and has held it ever since.

The company is a member of the Entrepreneurs’ Forum and purchased and moved to its seven-acre site at Bolam Business Park in Cramlington in May 2005.

Business Development Director, Caroline Moody, said: “Our staff have played a major part in the history of the company since 1947.

“As the front line troops of Moody Logistics, they are very much our brand and are continuously trained to ensure they give the highest level of customer service.

“We place a very high value on every one of them – whether they are part-time or full time – and this year we are very proud to be able to give a variety of bonuses. Everyone gets something and that is important to us.

“We are a third generation firm and, from the beginning, have made sure we reward our staff in any we can.

“At Christmas time we have a get together where we present a trophy to our Driver of the Year, which is voted for by the staff.

“We also recognise drivers with awards when they achieve a full year driving with no accidents, and no tachograph errors and full attendance and service awards are given to staff throughout the business.

“We see it as an investment in the future of the company, so the chance to share our profits with them is about as good as it gets for us.

“Our staff have a sense of pride in the business, just as my grandfather David did after he founded D. Moody (Haulage) Ltd back in 1947. He had been in the RAF and the red and grey livery on our 18 vehicles reflects those roots.

“That sense our staff have that they are playing an important role in the business is what has brought Moody so far. We are a family firm and we count our staff as part of that family.”
