Charity opens new shop
A charity which provides hospice care to people in their own homes has opened its third charity shop.
The opening of the Herriot Hospice Homecare shop in Stokesley high street (on the site of the former Spar store) was performed by Lord Crathorne, a Patron of the charity.
Lord Crathorne, who joked he was nearly knocked down in the rush to enter the new store, said: “It’s an honour to open the shop on behalf of such a unique organisation which provides care for people with life limiting illnesses in their own home.
“The shop has all sorts of excellent products and I am sure it will be a great success.”
Karen Wilkinson-Bell, Chief Executive of Herriot Hospice Homecare, said: “We are delighted to have been able to open our third charity shop and we were overwhelmed by the amount of people who came through the doors on the first afternoon.
“We were able to open the shop due to a legacy which was gifted to the charity and the amount of generous donations of clothing, furniture and other items we continue to receive from local people.”
Herriot Hospice Homecare also has charity shops in Northallerton and Thirsk. People who would like to donate items can take them into any of the stores, or if they have bulky items they can contact the head office on 01609 777413 and arrange for them to be picked up free of charge.
