Omega Auctions, seller of John Lennon’s wisdom tooth sets up in Warrington and creates 16 jobs
A Specialist auctioneer, Omega Auctions, has set up a new base at Langtree’s Penketh Business Park, Warrington.
The move will create six full time and ten part time jobs in the town when it opens in January 2015
The new premises will become the company’s main auction room replacing its current facility in Stockport.
Omega Auctions specialises in the sale of music memorabilia, fine wine, watches and other collectables such as vintage toys, postage stamps and military medals.
The auction company holds bi-monthly auctions for collectables and quarterly auctions for music memorabilia and have sold some of the most unusual and unique items ever to come under the hammer at auction.
The company stores its most valuable lots at a secret off-site location.
Earlier this year, the company sold one of John Lennon’s extracted wisdom teeth to a Canadian dentist for £23,000.
The dentist is now working with US doctors in a bid to extract DNA from it and clone the former Beatle.
They also recently sold Elvis’ personal annotated bible for £59,000 and capes worn by George Harrison and Ringo Starr in the 1965 film Help!, which sold for over £50,000 each.
Karen Fairweather, director at Omega Auctions said: “The new auction house will allow us to take our company to the next stage and deliver better auctions in better surroundings.
“Our sales are of national and international significance so we needed a location that was easy to access, plenty of space and was of great quality.
“We have found both of these things and more in Warrington and are very much looking forward to bringing our sales to the town.”
