Transport agency wins four communications awards
Nexus has won four awards recognising the efforts it makes to engage with local communities and its own staff.
Nexus, which works for the North East Combined Authority in planning and providing local transport, won Gold awards for best in-house communications team and best internal communications at the North East Pride Awards.
It also won Silver awards for best use of integrated media and best public sector campaign, recognising its engagement with passengers, neighbours and local service providers before and during a month-long Major Line Closure on the Tyne and Wear Metro in summer 2013.
Huw Lewis, Head of Communications for Nexus, said: “We are part of the communities we serve and staff across our business work hard to ensure we listen to what local people have to say as we shape the services we deliver. I am delighted to accept these awards on behalf of many people at Nexus whose efforts they reward.”
The annual North East Pride awards recognise excellence in the region’s public relations industry, and attract scores of entries from the public and private sectors.
The Nexus Communications team covers media and internal relations as well as community engagement, driven by a small team of specialist community relations officers.
Earlier this year it won PR Campaign of the Year at the UK Rail Business Awards, the rail industry’s top award for communications, for communications around Major Line Closures on Metro.
