Winchester’s controversial Silver Hill development changes approved
Winchester City Council has approved plans for a £165 million city centre development, despite local backlash.
Winchester City Council’s planning committee voted in favour of developer TIAA Henderson’s changes to proposals for which they already have planning permission.
The changes mean there will be fewer houses and more retail space in the revised plans.
Local people campaigning against the changes have stated that they will continue to fight for their cause.
The developer has made a commitment to contributing £1 million towards affordable homes elsewhere as part of the plans.
Conservative councillor Ken Gottlieb, said: “There were lots of things about the process, not necessarily the scheme itself, but how they processed the applications which we think weren’t correctly done in law.”
