Local housebuilder brings festive cheer to Children’s Hospital

Managing Director of David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West, Ian Ruthven, spread festive cheer at Leeds Children’s Hospital’s Children’s Liver, Gastro and Renal unit at Leeds General Infirmary today (19 December) delivering a sack full of presents.

David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West, the developer behind Bodington Manor in Adel, donated £500 worth of gifts to the children on the ward, including DVDs, cuddly toys, train sets and books. The children, many of whom are long-term patients at the hospital, were delighted with the array of presents from the local housebuilder.

Speaking about the donation, Ian commented: “The work that is done at the Children’s Liver Gastro and Renal Unit at the Leeds Children’s Hospital is inspirational and we feel honoured to be able to give presents to some of the region’s most poorly children. It’s been fantastic to meet the staff and children on the ward and I wish them all a very Merry Christmas!”

The Children’s Liver Gastro and Renal Unit provides care for children up to 18 years old who require medical or surgical help for conditions involving the liver and kidneys.

Emma Marshall, Play Specialist Team Leader for Critical Care at Leeds Children’s Hospital, added: “We are always very grateful when companies and people from the local community find the time to try and make a difference in these children’s lives, especially around Christmas, which is such an important time. The children were thrilled to receive lots of fantastic gifts. This will have definitely come as a welcome distraction to being in hospital at this time of year.”
