Tesco to close seven stores in the North West
Supermarket giant Tesco will close seven stores in the North West.
The news comes as it named a total of 43 stores closing across the country, creating 2,000 job losses.
Stores in Chester, Runcorn, Ormskirk, Morecambe, Bootle, Liverpool and Stockport are all scheduled to close.
Tesco chief executive Dave Lewis, told the BBC: “This is about recognizing the financial reality of where we are as Tesco.
“The 43 stores we announced that we will be closing are stores that are very unprofitable
“I have had to take the difficult decision that it is the right thing to do.”
