Not all gloom in the Magazine Industry
The latest set of industry sales figures have been released this week from the Audit Bureau of circulations and have shown a continued fall in sales within the newsstand for the second half of 2014.
With numbers falling, three of the most respected magazines saw an increase in sales from the newsstand. Both Woman & Home and Vogue saw outstanding growth, but nothing compared to Good Housekeeping whose sales increased by 5% and has shown a remarkable record for the past seven years.
John Porrett, Managing Director of Unique Magazines said: “One market that has seen outstanding growth has been the women’s interest sector with increased sales for the publishers for InStyle, House Beautiful and Essentials Magazine.”
“2014 also saw an increase in demand for children’s monthlies which provided four titles within the top five biggest magazine launches of the year. One of these magazines was Lego Friends; a magazine aimed at primary girls aged 7 to 11.”
Despite this downturn in the market, Unique Magazines a local online newsagent has seen a steady growth of 12.52% on magazines sold from their office in Benton during the end of 2014. Mr Porrett said: “It has a busy second half of 2014 which saw our volumes being sent from our warehouse increase by 34% compared to the previous year. We look forward to a strong 2015.”
Unique Magazines founder and managing director, John Porrett setup the business in 2004, driving forward an online magazine subscription company that is involved with consumers, businesses, schools and libraries from across the globe.
