Two millionth order milestone for Durham's Quantum Pharmaceutical
Quantum Pharmaceutical, part of Durham’s Quantum Pharma Plc, is celebrating the despatch of its two millionth order of bespoke medicines or ‘specials’ from its manufacturing base at Burnopfield.
This milestone marks another successful year for the UK’s leading supplier of unlicensed medicines and follows the recent announcement that its parent company, Quantum Pharma Plc, floated on the AIM stock market.
To support its rapid growth, Quantum Pharma has increased its North East workforce by 8 per cent. The company now employs 246 people at its County Durham headquarters.
This latest success builds on the company’s £4 million investment in the expansion of its North East facility including the opening of a state-of-the-art aseptic compounding suite in 2013.
Brian Fisher, Group Commercial Director of Quantum Pharma Plc, said: “We are delighted with the performance of our unlicensed medicines service.
“Given that each special manufactured under our roof can undergo as many as 150 individual quality checks, completing our 2 millionth order is an enormous achievement and a credit to our staff’s dedication.
“We work hard to offer the fastest specials service in the industry; pharmacies and dispensing doctors can order from us in the evening and receive bespoke medication manufactured in our own premises the next morning.”
