New Osborne Dental Group surgery set to open in Ponteland creating six new jobs

Construction work on a new dental surgery for Osborne Dental Group has recently completed and been handed over to the client ready for opening in February, creating six new jobs.

Ponteland Dental will soon take up residence in a 19th century property, at Bell Villas on the main road to Ponteland, which has been completely refurbished creating its third dental care and wellbeing facility.

This latest development has been delivered to meet the dental needs of the growing number of Ponteland and Darras Hall-based patients who have so far travelled to Osborne Dental, the group’s Jesmond practice, for treatment.

Stanley Dental, the group’s third practice, is situated in Stanley, Co. Durham.

Building on an existing relationship dating back to 2003, Ponteland Dental turned to xsite architecture, one of Newcastle’s leading architectural practices, for advice on both the planning permission requirements surrounding the building’s change of use as well as the design aspects.

Noted for its award-winning expertise, creative vision and experience of refurbishment and renovation projects, xsite’s brief was to deliver a sympathetically restored building that would not only meet the dental and wellbeing needs of patients but would also reflect the group’s culture and become an asset to the community.

According to principal dentist, Dr Onkar Dhanoya, the architect has more than met the brief. When talking about the project which represents a large investment and is a key part of the group’s detailed growth strategy, he said:

“When we originally set out on the project I don’t think any of us were aware of the full extent of the work required to successfully renovate the building as we have. Thanks to Tim’s knowledge and expertise coupled with that of the contractor, Smailes Construction, we have been able to get to where we wanted and now have a fantastic, cutting-edge centre.

“Apart from the aesthetics, it was equally important that the building was designed to work for our use. We have made a significant investment not only in the building but also in the latest technology and recruitment of a highly experienced and skilled dental team who will be working here.”

Speaking about the project and longstanding client relationship xsite’s partner, Tim Bailey, added:

“Due to the age of the property and earlier works carried out, the project was more challenging than first anticipated and the building required significantly more work than previously thought so we basically took it back to its original shell.

“However, I am delighted with the finished result, as I believe we have delivered a building which is a huge improvement on the original and from a functional point of view, one which works efficiently yet is welcoming with a comfortable feel.

“Having worked on behalf of Onkar on a number of earlier projects we look forward, as the group continues to grow, to working on other schemes in the future. “

Xsite architecture is currently working on the creation of a new exclusive Spa Garden at Rockcliffe Hall Hotel and was recently involved in the creation of Tyneside Bar Cafe for the Tyneside Cinema.
