Thirteen Group acquire first office at Northshore, Stockton

Muse Developments has handed over a new 43,000 sq ft office development at Northshore in Stockton on Tees, to housing provider Thirteen Group.

The new building will accommodate in the region of 300 employees on the banks of the River Tees, giving Thirteen Group a contemporary and environmentally-friendly head office.

Representatives from Muse and Thirteen met on site to officially handover the building.

Cath Purdy, Deputy Chief Executive of Thirteen Group, said: “Muse Developments has created a fantastic building for Thirteen, which will support the delivery and continued development of the services we provide across the area.

“We are very proud to be part of this important regeneration project and to be making significant investment in the area. We are looking forward to being part of a vibrant community at Northshore.”

The building includes several sustainable design features which will achieve a BREEAM Very Good award.

Alan McBride, project director at Muse Developments, said: “The completion of the first office at Northshore is an important milestone in the ongoing regeneration of the area. We’ve worked closely with Thirteen, HCA and Stockton Council to deliver a green, bespoke new office building which will accommodate Thirteen’s workforce in an attractive and well-connected location.

“The transformation of Northshore is continuing at pace, with the construction of the innovation centre Fusion Hive and second phase of housing at Vivo well underway.”

Muse’s sister company Overbury will now undertake the office fit out, with Thirteen’s employees starting to move into the building from early May.

Chris Munro, Area Manager at the Homes and Communities Agency, said: “This handover is great news for Stockton in that it marks the return of jobs to Northshore for the first time in a generation, and will continue the changes that are taking place to the east of Stockton town centre.”

Leader of Stockton Council, Councillor Bob Cook, said: “What better place to work than Northshore which has stunning views of the River Tees and is just a short walk along the river to Stockton Town Centre where employees can take advantage of the newly rejuvenated High Street.

“With a host of independent shops alongside well known high street names as well as cafes, tea rooms and restaurants, anyone working at Northshore will be able to enjoy all Stockton Town Centre has to offer.

“I’m sure many other businesses will be eager to join Thirteen and those based at the new Fusion Hive when it opens later this year so they too can benefit this prime location close to major road and rail routes.”

The development was constructed by Esh Construction and designed by architects Ryder.

When complete, Northshore will provide up to 450,000 sq ft of offices, up to 85,000 sq ft retail, leisure space, a new hotel and up to 126 family houses, all set within a high quality riverside environment. The scheme will re-connect and re-orientate the town with the River Tees and create nearly 4,500 new jobs.
