Johnston Press launches vibrant business community online ‘hub’
Brand new online business hub to provide advice and resources to local businesses – from CEOs and secretaries, to plumbers and painters – across the UK
23rd March, 2015: Johnston Press, which reaches one in three people in the UK through its local and regional multimedia titles, and works with over 300,000 local business customers, is strengthening its commitment to helping small businesses by launching a brand new online business community, the hub, sharing its local business expertise.
The new site – which will be branded and tailored according to users’ local Johnston Press title – will feature top tips, videos, infographics and in-depth advice guides and resources for forward-thinking entrepreneurs and small business leaders at all stages of their business journey.
the hub is the latest initiative from Johnston Press designed to support small business in the UK. It sits alongside Johnston Press’ digital marketing service for SMEs, Digital Kitbag, and follows research conducted by the company with the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) last year, the first nationwide UK Local Innovation Index, which revealed the hotspots in research, technology, networking, and creativity to rival the capital.
The Index ranked Greater Manchester top, with the country’s best innovation ecosystem, followed by Merseyside and the West Midlands, and showcased the huge levels of business innovation occurring nationwide.
Ashley Highfield, CEO of Johnston Press, says: “Johnston Press has always recognised that local business is the lifeblood of all communities. Today, we’re proud to announce the launch of the hub, a place for these businesses to join relevant conversations and support each other in their journey as entrepreneurs.”
Matthew Moore, head of marketing communications for Johnston Press, News Brands, and the hub expert, says: “Johnston Press has always celebrated the huge contribution local business makes to communities up and down the country. We’re hugely excited to extend our conversation with the business community via the hub; local media provides local business with a unique opportunity to speak to prospective customers, employees and partners – the hub is our way of strengthening that relationship.”
the hub is hosted at www.thehub. tips
