Regus Gateshead celebrates 10 years in business

This month, the world’s largest flexible workspace provider, Regus, is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its business centre at the Team Valley Business Park in Gateshead.

Since opening in 2005, flexible workspace in the Regus centre has made it easier for hundreds of firms– from local start-ups to multinationals – to do business. Indeed, flexible working is still gaining popularity; research shows that almost a third (29%) of companies in the UK have increased flexible working in the past year.

Across its 320 UK locations, Regus has witnessed the trend for companies to turn away from traditional leased offices as they strive to keep overheads down and work in more productive, modern and environmentally-conscious ways.

One entrepreneurial firm in the North East that has harnessed this modern approach to work is Key Performance Innovations Ltd, a manufacturing and business consultancy.

Gateshead resident Stuart McGivern, Co-owner, explains: “When we launched the business in 2012, we decided against renting a permanent office as we wanted to keep overheads low and we spend a lot of time on client sites. But we still needed somewhere professional to work at other times, and I didn’t want the only option to be working from home.”

Stuart uses the Regus network of business lounges in the North East, including the one at the Gateshead centre. He says, “It’s great that you can pay a small amount monthly to have a productive business environment on tap. The Gateshead business lounge is perfectly suited to our need of somewhere to work once or twice a week. Plus, if we need to meet a client in a professional setting, we can always hire a meeting room at an hourly rate. This pay-as-you-go approach has been invaluable.”

Richard Morris, CEO of Regus in the UK comments: “We are proud that the Gateshead centre has reached its tenth birthday and I extend my personal thanks to the centre team, who I know work closely with our clients to keep things running smoothly.

“Business has changed so much over this period and, as a company, we have innovated our offering to suit today’s workforce. We offer clients flexible workspaces that are professional, high quality and designed to foster wellbeing and drive efficiency.

“Our customers tell us that by saving money on expensive leases and bills they are left with more money to invest in growing their business. In addition, using flexible workspace is proven to translate directly into productivity gains.”
