Mark Johnson joins Croft Associates from NDA

Croft Associates, specialists in innovative solutions to enable the safe transport, storage or disposal of radioactive materials, has announced that Mark Johnson is joining the company from the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (“NDA”) Radioactive Waste Management Limited as Engineering Director. His appointment will take effect from April 2015.

Mark Johnson is a Chartered Engineer with 30 years of science and engineering experience, covering mechanical, nuclear decommissioning, repository design development and radioactive waste management. He has worked in the areas of research and design consultancy, both in the private and public sector.

A former Croft employee, Mark re-joins from NDA Radioactive Waste Management Limited where for the last 10 years he has led the design development of the generic geological disposal facility for higher activity wastes in the UK. He has in depth knowledge of package design and performance assessment, applied to the storage, transport and disposal of radioactive wastes and materials. A recognised expert in his field, Mark has published a range of papers, been a prominent spokesperson at industry conferences and led UK and international project teams.

Prior to joining NDA Radioactive Waste Management Limited in 2003 Mark spent 12 years at Croft where he was involved in the design and development of waste and transport packages and systems for radioactive materials. Mark began his career at UKAEA, Harwell.
